Walker Miller is delighted to announce that we have successfully secured and completed a contract to upgrade the lighting system within the aircraft hangar for TUI, the UK’s leading holiday company, at their Luton Airport site. This comprehensive project involved replacing all existing lighting across the site with advanced, energy-efficient solutions.
The newly completed scheme delivers significant environmental and financial benefits, achieving annual energy savings exceeding £200,000 and reducing CO2 emissions by 140,132 kg, contributing to TUI’s carbon reduction goals. The state-of-the-art lighting system incorporates intelligent sensors that automatically switch off lights in unoccupied areas and adjust brightness based on natural light levels, optimizing energy efficiency when ambient light is sufficient.
Additionally, the project included the removal of the outdated central battery unit, replaced with modern, self-testing emergency lighting, fully wired and installed to enhance safety and reliability.
